RESORT is the culmination of a two year commission by holiday camp Butlins to celebrate the camp's 75th anniversary.
Following the black and white social documentary photography that previously captured holiday history, and expanding on Martin Parr's celebrated photographs of the camp, Fox's highly charged colour photographs bring the hyper-reality and spirit of play of this historical and cultural site to the contemporary stage.
Since its opening in 1936, Butlins has become a household name, and Fox's photographs celebrate the Butlins tradition by bringing vibrant insight to the Butlins holiday experience.
This series was also awarded the 2010 National Media Museum Photography Award for its excellence.
James Hyman Photography is delighted represent Anna Fox and to have supported the artist in this two-year commission.
