Michael Slater, world-renowned Dickens expert, whose new biography of the novelist was published in September, will explore the complex personality and dramatic history, both personal and professional, of this phenomenal writer. Particular attention will be paid to Dickens's responsiveness to the new technological marvels of his age, including his notable comparison of his own art to that of 'a fanciful photographer'.
