Dialogue was inspired by the late Frido Troost whose photo gallery - the Institute of Concrete Matter (ICM) - in the Dutch city of Haarlem was an important meeting place for the Dutch photography community. Collectors, dealers, artists, photographers and curators regularly met at ICM to discuss and be inspired by a great variety of images, have a glass of wine and - most importantly - have some fun. Unfortunately, Frido passed away in 2013 after a short illness at the age of 52. Frido and his gallery are greatly missed and it is the intention of the Dialogue Foundation to make Dialogue an annual meeting place for all people interested in vintage photography. It is our way of bringing Frido back to life.
The Dialogue Vintage Photography Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to stimulate the interest in vintage photography in the broadest sense of the word.
