About 12 photographers are represented in the exhibit, mostly from San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino counties, since those areas were the most active.
One such photographer was F.G. Schumacher of Los Angeles, who had a gallery in the Los Angeles Plaza in the latter part of the 1800s. Famous for his keen eye, he was called on for a variety of jobs.
Another was A.C. Golsh, who grew up in the Pala area and was hired by the Banning family to document the growth of the Los Angeles area.
