Part of the Beacon Lecture series.

talk by Antonia Laurence-Allen, School of Art History, discusses the potency of the the 1853 photographic exhibition tour of Britain as a site for distributing state enforced ideology in the nineteenth century and illustrates how the exhibition stimulated the practice of photography at a local level.
