DESCRIPTION:Samuel Bourne (30 October 1834 – 24 April 1912) was a Br
 itish photographer known for his prolific seven years' work in India, 
 from 1863 to 1870.\n\nIn 2002 Dr Xavier Guégan travelled around India
  in the footsteps of 19th Century traveller and photographer Samuel Bo
 urne. He studied the way in which Bourne represented Indian people, ar
 chitecture and landscape in his writings and photographs. This exhibit
 ion, a collaboration with Northumbria University and the British Libra
 ry, brings together copies of Bourne’s original photographs together
  with images taken by Guégan. The exhibition provides a fascinating i
 nsight into the changing face of India over the last 150 years.\n\n\n\
