DESCRIPTION:In 1886 the Birmingham photographer, John Collier, made a 
 series of over 70 photographs documenting one of the most important pu
 blic demonstrations of Birmingham’s industrial prowess: the Exhibiti
 on of Local Manufactures and Natural History. Staged to coincide with 
 the annual meeting of the British Association for the Advancement of S
 cience in Birmingham the exhibtion, held at the Bingley Hall between 2
 6 August and 30 October 1886 attracted over 400,000 visitors. This out
 door exhibition re-presents a selection of 50 of Collier's remarkable
