A repeat of the same event on 12th June 2010: Discover how the area around Bishopsgate Institute has changed over the past 100 years on this walking tour led by Blue Badge Guide Diane Burstein. Inspired by Bishopsgate Institute’s 1912 archive collection of photographs taken by C A Mathew, this walk will locate lost sites including the Phoenix Distillery, the City of London Theatre, Piggott's Tent and Flag Manufacturers and Smith's Dining Rooms. You will also see what has been preserved - the recently restored St Botolph's Hall in Spital Square, the 1880s Spitalfields Market buildings, Sandys Row with its Victorian synagogue and the Georgian shop fronts on Artillery Lane.
Diane Burstein is a qualified London Blue Badge and City of London Guide and author of London Then and Now.
