1858 photograph of Japanese negotiators by William Nassau Jocelyn

Further to my post earlier this week about an exhibition in Tokyo of early images of Japan, I should mention that the show includes an 1858 albumen print by William Nassau Jocelyn, who was attached as a photographer to Lord Elgin's expedition to Japan, The photograph is in the collection of the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum and pictures of a group of the Japanese officials involved in the treaty negotiations seated in front of a building, as a curious onlookers watch from the veranda of building behind the group.
