Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history
There was reference about John Henry Gear - 1896 Photographic Award (Posted by Tony Rackstraw on April 10, 2011) that he was born 1859 at Yeovil, Somerset, England. I have reference that he was born 1864 in Heckfield, Hampshire and lived with the Wickison family at 52 Lincoln's Inn Fields, Holborn.for some years.
I am researching Cyril Ernest Chidley who was in partnership with Ernest Walter G. Wesson and John Henry Gear in the 1890s.Technical Photographers and Artists at No. 101 Great Portland Street, London. The partnership was dissolved on 28 March 1899 (London Gazette).
Is anything known about Cyril Ernest Chidley who continued as a Photographer, resident at 70 Benthall Road, Stoke Newington until at least 1911. He died 12 August 1918 in Wembley, Middlesex.
Any assistance appreciated.
