Daguerreotypes of British Photographers posing with their camera's??

I am writing books a book on daguerreotypes and one on ambrotypes and need some information.

I believe there are less than a handful of English daguerreian photographers posing with their camera's. Back in the 1970s I was an under bidder on the Jebez Hogg image taken in Richard Beard's Studio, 1843. Does anyone know of any other image of a daguerreian photographer in Great Britain posing with his camera,?

Does anyone know of a British ambrotypist posing with his camera?

The only image I can think of of a British ambrotypist posing with kit is one of John Dillwyn Llewelyn, a famous Welsh photographer.

A google image search will bring up a couple of examples.

Thanks. I didnt know of this image. It was taken in 1853 and I am researching what is the format of the image. -Paper print, daguerreotype or ambrotype. I believe it was a collodion image of some sort and not a daguerreotype. Most likely am ambrotype as you suggest.

I'd guess a salt print from a collodion neg.

The image does look like a paper print rather than an ambrotype.

Yep I thought so also.

There is a diptych of him outside a property with his camera and his wife? looking on.  The  website that shows that if you look further says that that one is a slated print from a glass neg.

I've got a short bio of him somewhere I'll look it up and scan it to you.

That's great, I am working night and day on my ambrotype book the dag book is at the printers in China and I should have it early May. I decided to tell an enhanced story about the use of the ambrotype in Britain and spent time with researchers at the V & A etc. I am looking to buy some unusual ambrotypes. I have about 1000+ in my collection as I have been collecting them since 1975.

I appreciate your help. Th image I have, the V & A curators say is early to mid 50s and shows a full plate camera in a wonderful pose.- a flamboyant photographer sitting by and leaning on his machine. The daguerreotypist is posed in a similar manner in an 1848 or so image.

There was one on ebay a few months ago, was way out of my budget. I collect the occasional plate that takes my interest.

Do you have digital copies of the plates I could maybe see?

While I'm at it, I've seen an image of JJ Forrester (Portugal) with his camera and one of Edward Reeves of Lewes with one of his, in some books I have here. I couldnt find full versions online.

I'll scan those also for you reference and which books they are from.
