Identifying a photo

Hello, I hope it's ok to ask this on this forum, but can someone help me identify a photograph? It's a familiar one to me, but I've completely forgotten who the photographer is. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cormac

  • Hi Brett, that's a great tip regarding Google image searches, I used it to answer the query I posted yesterday.  The image is by Mapplethorpe and not Alvarez Bravo.  Thanks Brian

You can use Google image search to investigate such images.  Just drag and drop the image into the search box:

  • Amazing. I had no idea it worked in that way. Thanks so much!

  • Thanks so much, Graham. Of course! It's been a while since I studied 19th century photography, and Lady Clementina Hawarden's name had somehow faded from memory - like an old print...

Very much appreciated - and just in the nick of time for the class where I'm using the image!

  • Hello Cormac

Photo is by Clementina , Lady Hawarden , probably of one of her daughters - see page 97 in Graham Ovenden's book , published in 1974 by Academy editions if you can find a copy
