    Hi Hilary

It would be good to discuss our large collection of Bassano whole-plate negatives covering the 1914-18 period

in connection with your plans and also our NPG great war show. Although most are catalogued on line we still have a few hundred not yet catalogued or printed from 1917-19.

    Best wishes

    Terence

  • Dear Lesley

Certainly.  I'll get it to you after Easter.

    Thanks!

  • Dear Hilary,

Would it be a good idea, if not too much trouble, to send me a synopsis of what you have on my grandfather Ivor, the I can see if I have anything you have not.

You probably know about the flight in Claude Grahame-White's plane with his camera.   Family tales had it that he was the first cameraman to take aerial pictures.

  • Thanks for sharing this Lesley.  I am Head Curator at the IWM Photograph Archive.  You might be interested to know that IWM is working on a major new exhibition and digitisation project to mark the WW1 centenary in 2014.  Ivor's work, and that of other WW1 photographers & film cameramen, will be central.  In this connection, I would very much like to check that the Museum's information regarding Ivor's life and work is accurate and up to date.  Any advice appreciated!

    Best wishes

    Hilary
