Richard Dykes Alexander: The Docks and Boats at Ipswich, Suffolk, UK

Waxed paper negative, 11-13/16 x 14-13/16 in. (300 x 376 mm), 1857c/1857c, unmounted. #13231.
As well as being an active partner in the family's banking business, Richard Dykes Alexander became chairman of the Ipswich Dock Commission and a director of Ipswich Water Works.

Provenance: Charles Lewis May, great-grandson of Edward Curtis May, sold at auction, Sotheby's, London, 28 June 1978; Christie's 2 December 1998, London, South Kensington.
