That should of course read 'shoe-less' in the caption. The child's fixed gaze on the coin while the supposed benefactor grins for the camera does make the image as you say uncomfortable. I could never work out if it was a begging cup on a stick, a mallet or toy the child has in their hand. Thanks for the comment.

The little 'street urchin' in Street child 1 looks slightly bemused. How sad. Curious too that her seeming benefactor proffers the penny to the camera he looks into rather than the child. An uncomfortable image altogether.
