Hi Jane, There isn't much published to my knowledge - possibly the article that you've seen of mine gives most detail - certainly for the Deutsch period. If you have specific questions I can try to answer them. Also try Collison, R.L. 1965. Librarie…

hey Jane - yes we're here alright and far from selling up we're constantly adding to the files - 60 million images and counting... but the core Hulton collection of prints, negatives, transparencies, works on paper, magazines, etc still exists. Getty still owns major shareholding though we now have additional private investment.

this is a short fun film but it was photographed in the files so might be of interest. Good luck with the paper. Best, Sarah

Thanks Sarah for the journal articles on the Hulton Collection they should be a great help. Is the original Hulton Collection as intially created by Sir Edward Hulton still intact in the UK? I also read something about Getty selling; as of right now it still belongs to them correct? I have to wrap this paper up by Monday, thanks for all the help,

Its raining cats and dogs here today (Bronx) but for an expat from Manchester, it feels just like home.

Hello Sarah,
Do you happen to know of a publication or article that may cover the history of the Hulton Picture Archive from Edward Hulton to Getty. It is difficult to find anything about the years the BBC owned it and there is not much about the Hulton/Deutsch period. It would be wonderful if you could point me in the right direction,
best,
Jane

Sounds wonderful, who who would not want to work with Lindsay Duncan and Timothy Spall? I know Poliakoff presents a very romanticized view of archives, the few I have been too also have that "warehouse" ambience.
Have a good day,

Jane

Hi,
Just wanted to stop by and say hello, I have just joined the site and created a group re the Hulton Archives and Picture.Post I recognized your name from some articles in Black and White magazine; enjoyed your "History in Pictures" article. It was one of the first hits that came up when I searched for info on Hulton in Google. I initially became interested through watching Stephen Poliakoffs' wonderful drama, "Shooting the past" and realized he had based his archive on an actual photgraphic archive. I am not a photographer but love old photos and all the glamour and sometimes unglamourous images from Picture Post and similar sources.

Many thanks for letting me know about Tripe's Burmah series which I did not know about in your collections. I would very much like to spend time looking through them when next in London. Perhaps you can let me have details off-list of how best to arrange this.

All best wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Roger
