Early Photos of the Houses of Parliament

I'm working on a project with the architectural historian, David Blissett, who is currently writing a biography of the English Victorian architect Charles Barry.  Barry designed the Houses of Parliament in London and David is trying to locate any early photos of the Houses of Parliament (i.e. under construction from 1840 onwards).  Any information on the whereabouts of images from this date would be most gratefully received and passed on to David.

Thanks Larry

I'm sure David does not have a photograph if the site so I'll send this on.

I don't know if the temporary absence of the Houses would be of interest, but this has always been one of my favorite Henrys:

Thanks for all the helpful feedback. I'm passing on all the details to David Blissett, the architectural historian who is also very grateful.

Hello again

I have had a look at the auction catalogue for the sale of Mr Wills collection , and the book in question would be by Harrington - lot 225 The Abbey & Palace of Westminster . I now see it is in Gernsheim no 460

Hello Peter

Back in the 1980's i bought a photographically illustrated book showing the building of the new Houses of Parliament , which was presumably published the year they opened . I passed it on to Harry Wills , in exchange for some work he did on a pair of stereo daguerreotypes . I believe Mr Wills collection was sold fairly recently , so have no idea where it might be at present . I am contacting you to let you know such a book exists , but i cannot see any mention of it in Gernsheim

Hi Pete, I can't help but sounds like a great project I look forward to hearing about your progress!

Hi, Pete. We also have this Fenton of the House of Lords from the West side which I don't think I've seen before. I feel there should be obvious earlier examples but I can't think of many offhand.
