Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history

Might anyone know about gigantic wet plate negatives 5 by 8 feet held in Fort St Cyr, France possibly of the new Paris Opera of 1875  or   a  4 by 6.5 feet set in  Berlin?

Sadly, I know nothing of these wet plate negatives, but just wonder whether this had anything to do with Saint-Cyr's rôle as the premier French (and even European?!) Military Academy, and the use of mammoth photos of military and other engineering works.
