For the seventh in our series of In Focus talks we will be joined by Kenny Farquharson who will be discussing two of Scotland's most influential street photographers; Oscar Marzaroli & Joseph McKenzie, and their parallel legacies documenting their native cities of Glasgow and Dundee.
Both Marzaroli and McKenzie's careers spanned the 1960s through to the 1980s, and both photographers share a unique reputation as recorders of their home cities.
In this short talk journalist and writer Kenny Farquharson will discuss both the similiarities and differences in approach of two of Scotland's most notable documentary photographers.
A Love Letter to Dundee: Joseph McKenzie Photographs 1964-1987 is on show at The McManus, Dundee until 24th October 2021.
Kenny Farquharson is a columnist and senior writer with The Times, based in Edinburgh. Career highs include being embedded with Scottish troops in Afghanistan and reporting on Barack Obama's first presidential election campaign. He is an Orwell Fellow, having been shortlisted for the Orwell Prize for political writing. He plays drums in Best Picture, a dad band.
