“People say life was hard in the East End, but I found the living was easy and loved it.”
Available for sale for the first time, a selection of unique vintage prints; from shop-fronts and warehouses, portraits of the local, to fog laden images of Cityscapes and the River Thames. Claridge's photos of the East End started in the 50's until 1982, evoke the sights and smells of a unique and romantic past of a whole area of London that has now come under the hammer by steel and glass.
What must not be forgotten is that John started taking photographs at the age of eight, he'd spotted a plastic camera at a local funfair in the East End and just had to win it, it was as simple as that. He wanted to take home all the memories of that day.
A beautifully designed and printed monograph with 200 odd photographs for £25.00 is a must buy!
