Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history
Seán was in the middle of the troubles then and with his camera right in the focal points of military and para-military activities he managed to document the daily horrors with a keen eye and a steady hand. His black and white images conjure up again what was than ‘normality’ and show the absurdities of military and civilians only meters apart, following their daily routines: coexistence of war and ‘peace’, all on one shot, one print, one reality.
We think it is important to show what was documented than, also to highlight what political stupidity can lead to today. Seán’s documents are timely and should trigger politicians and all of us to consider the implications of decisions taken hastily without really thinking through the consequences.
