Has anyone come across the name or photographs by John Thomas Ashby FRPS, an active pictorialist photographer in the 1890s and 1900s? I’ve recently acquired a small probably home-produced book c1900 of photographs entitled Memories of the Camera in which more than half of the 82 images in it are by J T Ashby. Ashby was a member and President of Woodford Photographic Society, and his time there overlapped with that of Alfred Horsley Hinton and W L F Wastell.

I’m now trying to put together the story of J T Ashby’s life. The Ancestry and British Newspaper Archive websites have been helpful, as have the RPS Journal online archive and Woodford Photographic Society’s own archive. Any information about the man from members here - especially a photo as I have no idea what he looked like - would be very welcome.
