"I may be wrong but wouldn't the handwritten 'copy' be instructions to a photographer (possibly with dimensions below) to copy this image, rather than this image being a copy?"

Flickr Commons Celebrates 5th Birthday
Last week saw 5 years since the Library of Congress became the inaugural member of Flickr Commons. Since then it has grown to 56 institutions and just under 250,000 images. What's more over 28,000 images have had a location set, and over 50,000 have had an estimated date recorded. This has made it possible for me to do some interesting experiments…

Public interpretation of old photos - new historypin.com website launched
For anyone who has an interest in public access to and interpretation of old images you might be interested in www.historypin.com which officially launched on Monday, after about a year in 'beta'. The launch coincided with the availability of new features and also a mobile app (currently just for Android smartphones). Hello James, I've tried to reply to your message (ref: 1920's racing cars) BUT disappointingly your message/the message you responded to AND my ?Leica 250 Prototype blog have all disappeared from my 'My Page' overnight! BUT to try to answer your question: unfortunately they are road cars at a Gymkana (so I cannot be of much help) .... if it had been a Grand Prix!
You could possibly try our old friend Bill Boddy at 'Motor Sport' magazine - they also have a keen interest in vintage motoring. Alan M. Preston
