Hello Lucy,
Many thanks for your eMail reply .................. I was afraid you may not pick it up from the BPH website.
I'm pleased you manged to pick up a copy/copies of David's book - he is a postman by trade, and produces them all entirely in his Dining Room, and provides an excellent local history educational service ....... he can only publish the copy he is provided with - so any mistakes are NOT his doing!!
I would be very interested to hear your comments ........................
I have high resolution scanned (x42 large files) of 'Monty's' Glass Plates - there are only a couple of the originals which are NOT particularly successful. I think the best thing is for me to possibly eMail them to you and then you can choose yourself - whichever you would like to have printed AND also have a digital 'negative' as a backup for sending to relatives etc.
You, and your family have possibly never seen these images of your (possibly) great great Grandmother ........... and various relatives and friends from the early 1900's.
Hopefully the Glass Plates at Leicester Records Office (they were there a few years ago) will turn up - and can be preserved for posterity by high resolution digital scanning in the same way too (they can then be digitally restored where damaged ...... to as (or near) new!).
I am determined to find them ..................... !!!
Although your Father, also said in his letter, that he found them particularly unhelpful!
It was fascinating how you, entirely by chance/destiny! came to be looking on the Internet informally EXACTLY at the time I put my Appeal on the BPH website AND the fact that I mentioned the Plates to David Dover ............... and he had published a book!!!
I think 'Monty' has looked down ............ and definitely had some divine intervention!!
Alan.
Hello Lucy,
Did you manage to obtain copies of you Grandfather, Monty's and Great Grandfather, John's biographies O.K from David ....... ?
I'm still actively trying to locate the remaining Glass Plates from Leicester Museum/Records Office ............... would you be interested in Print copies (only at cost) for your family archives?
I'm fascinated how you came to hear of me through BPH .......... ?
