Can anyone tell me more about Edward Sheriff Curtis's use of cyanotype in his American Native series.

I know he used gravure as well but need to rationalise why he used cyanotype.

Hi Lynette - I was always under the impression that he used cyanotype as did others at the time as a way of proofng his negatives. It was and is very cheap, works on a variety of papers and given the amount of UV aailable would have been realtively quick.  Even with a skilled and trained printer both, platinum and gravure are time consuming and therefore expensive processes.

Regads, Donald.

Thanks Donald,

I thought it may have been the ease of cyanotype over platinum but cant find any reference to support this.
