  • The combination of names and mentions is intriguing, but I haven't found any trace of a photographic pairing (whether as practitioners or manufacturers of equipment) by the name of Bell & Black, and nor does the Martin's patent mention seem to offer any helpful clue in this context. It is very hard to see what this little gizmo had to do with stereoscopy of any sort, whether photographic or not (and there were and indeed still are non-photographic stereoscopic applications, using images produced using other techniques). A mystery! I do hope some of our more technically minded members will be able to come up with an explanation. It is most curious.
  • Yes - I have heard that before !  Would any kind of "Stereoscopic Company" operate o/s photography ... do you think ?
