  • That's very helpful, Barry.  You have now enabled me to establish that the portrait is of a man's son, not the man himself.

    Best wishes, John

  • Hi, the Blind stamp style appears to be from the 1930's, in style and font.

    had it been prior to 1911, you can date from the address of the studio.

    my data has been mereged with Ron Cousins data base at;

    www.cartedevisite.co.uk/

    while they were in Baker St for almost all of their history, they did have a few other branch studios at various locations at different times. eg;

                3 Park Villas, Station Rd, New Barnet, London            1872 - 80

                   (works) Park Rd, Barnet, London            1886 - 88

                Talbot House, Park Rd, Barnet, London            1886 - 95

                7 Gloucester Terrace, Onslow Gardens, London            1887 - 93

                108 & 110 Brompton Rd, London            1895 - 1900

    you would find Ron's data base an excellent way to date early english photos.

    regards, Sandy Barrie

  • Thank you, Michael.  That's one end of the timeline.  Any thoughts on how long that logo was used?
