This was in a bundle of 7 cdv's bought online, most from Ontario in Canada, all with the subject(s) with stereo viewers. This one however is from London C.W has a couple with a Brewster viewer.
The reverse of the cdv has J. Cooper ,Photographer , London C.W.
I had thought this was from the UK London, but now believe it is again what we call Ontario, but at the time was known as Canada West.... a trap for young and old players. Ontario was so named in 1967 so I take it that my image is near the mid 1860's. Any fashion photo historians that can help?
I would appreciate any information available about the photographer , thank you

Hello Stephen:
You are correct, Canada West (C.W.) became the Province of Ontario on the 1st of July 1867, when the British North America Act came into effect. I collect Canadian photos, mainly from Sarnia, ON, where I reside, but I'm known to pick up photos from just about anywhere if the price is right :) Sarnia is about 60 miles from London.
I haven't much information of John Cooper, only this: John Cooper was in business as a photographer from 1857 - 1890. His business was located at 198 Dundas Street until 1875. He then moved to 440-442 Clarence Street.
Hope this proves helpful,
Regards,
John Rochon.

Hello Stephen,
The following are relevant entries re: J. Cooper in "A Biographical Index of Daguerreotypists in Canada, 1839-1871" by Graham Garrett. I hope this helps. Regards, Steven Evans, Toronto
COOPER, John.____________________________________________________________________active in London, C.W., (1853-1861)
Daguerreotypist and brother of Joseph and William Cooper (q.v.) who operated as John Cooper & Bro. from 1853. Stated in 1863 that they had 'experience of over eight years...'
