Ive seen adverts from 1916 - 1937 in various journals from
Pemberton Bros., Background Studio, 2, Thorne Grove, Morton, Blackpool
Saying things like "Messrs. Pemberton Bros, manufacture a very wide variety of suitable backgrounds and will send their list illustrating the various designs on application."
My question is if anyone actually has any copies of their list/ catalogue (unlikely I know) or examples of their backdrops (even less likely)
I am asking since they supplied backdrops to photographers in Ghana and other places in West Africa where my research is based
Any leads /suggestions most gratefully receievd

Thanks for this. Really interesting. I am currently stuck waiting for the Blackpool history centre to reopen after a roof leak - to see if they have Pemberton related materials. The firm was based there. thanks davidz

I was in Casa Vicente photographic Atelier and Museum, Funchal, Madeira and came across this letter which mentions an order for backgrounds from the Pemberton Bros. I wanted to reseach it but found no more than your own query. The letter is photographed in my stream on my flickr account:
