Photograph Storage

I have a small - but growing! - collection of vintage photographs which are all kept in individual, 'proper', transparent archive grade sleeves.

Whilst these are great for helping preserve the photographs, I would like to keep them in an album for easier viewing / display.

Any suggestions on which album would be good for this would be much appreciated. (NB. Each protective sleeve is A4 size).

Thanks in advance for any comments.

  • Depending on how many sleeves you already have, you might want to consider switching to Secol's album pages and see if you can find more reasonably priced polypropylene binders to hold them. One of the ones that I use might be just too small for the Secol pages, (but I use it with the Cosmic pages) owever. you may find other slightly larger ring binders.

  • I'm a collector not a conservator, and my response reflects that. Popular collector products tend to use polypropylene (rather than polyester) on cost grounds. You state that the sleeves that you are using are "A4 size". A4 paper size is 210 x 297mm, however, e.g. Secol's archival A4 polyester pockets are 220 x 305mm which would be too large for polypropylene collector album pages such as https://robroyalbums.co.uk/view-item.php?ref=rr54   Secol do polyester album pages https://www.secol.co.uk/products/filing_pages_for_binders_and_portf... binders. Before progressing, and to assist other responses, you need to check the external dimensions of your sleeves and post details here. Hope that this helps.

    • Thank you, Rob - that's very helpful.

The protective sleeves I'm using measure 21.5 cms x 29.5 cms.

      Kind regards,

      Chris.
