Photographic paper GOLDONA

Good evening,

Please help finding some information on the "Goldona" photographic paper, and on its manufacturer John J. GRIFFIN & Sons Ltd. (Kingsway, London) - when founded, how long existed, etc. It was first mentioned in an advertising card in 1908 (sent from Bath), and the only information on it was shown in The British Journal of Photography 1909, where named was its manufacturer, yet no relation with Bath. Moreover, no available informaton of the other products of the company.

  • The British Newspaper Archive has loads of adverts from several newspapers for Goldona. This one is from the Pall Mall Gazette of Tuesday 28 May 1907.12227930672?profile=RESIZE_930x

  • The company was started in Glasgow in pre-photographic times. The London branch was started around 1848 and became their head office.
The Goldona Trade Mark was registered in 1905. I don't think there was a connection to Bath, possibly the post card was from a dealer.12227683098?profile=RESIZE_400x

  • J J Griffin is well known as a manufacturer. The first reference I can find is to a new brand of self-toning paper - Goldona - is from April 1906.

    • Thank you... Are there any sources about this company available on the Internet, except the one I cited ? Can you find a relation with the company and Bath ?
