Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history

Sedgfield's "Photographic delineations" 1854-55

I was wondering how many parts of this work, each containing 6 albumen prints, were actually published. Gernsheim's "Incunabula of British photographic literature" (no. 34) states that 6 parts were issued between 1854 and 1855, but in his "The rise of photography 1850-1880" he states (p. 123) that 8 parts were issued. On the "Prospectus" on the back wrapper of parts 1-4, Sedgfield announces his intention to publish "about eight parts each year", but our copy contains only 4 parts, as do the copies at the Bodleian Library and Cambridge University Library. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks
