WW1 Army or RFC Manual of Photography

I am writing a novel about the Royal Flying Corps, set in WW1.

I have seen photos of soldiers working at an outside table, presumably making photos on printing-out-paper. Does anyone know where I can view an Army or RFC manual (or any details) on this process?

Also, my proof-readers have suggested some pictures of the planes I mention would be a great addition. Does anyone know where I can source copyright-free pictures of the WW1 planes?

Alternatively, can I sketch (trace) over an actual photo and use that without having to buy copyright clearance?

Regards,
Rob
