Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history
First Post:
Thank you for allowing be to join.
The following links are to 3 lots of photographs and Carte de Visite which turned up as part of a 'downsizing' by one of my clients.
My client is descended from Thomas Carlyle who is supposed to have annotated the Julia Margaret Cameron photograph with reference to Goethe's Mignon. There are also Carte de Visites relating to Carlyle, by various Scottish photographers and an early photograph of Carlyle, family and Provost Swan, probably by John Patrick.
All the lots below will be offered for sale by OPUS on 23/7/2020. I am the contact for the sale jane@opus-auctions.com and I will be on the rostrum on the day. Viewing by appointment, During the Covid 19 restrictions we have been operating from the grounds of a private house so the appointment rule is firm.
Hope you enjoy the photographs.
