Dear Hilary,
I am researching the life of Ernest Brooks, the WW1 photographer, as part of a biography of King Edward VIII. Brooks was official photographer on Edward's tours of Canada and Australia in 1919-20 (when he was Prince of Wales). I understand you have studied his career. He seems to have fallen out of favour because he tried to sell a copy of the Prince's diary to a journalist. He lost his Royal Warrant and his OBE when he was convicted of indecency. You mentioned charges of drunkenness on one website - could you tell me where you found that information?
Many thanks for coming back about thecopyright in Girdwood's work. If you have a moment do do a Google Search for a new feature that we have just started on the website
"Photographically Illustrated Periodicals" if you enter this and NPG it should come up and you will see an illustration of Girdwoods photo from the Tatler and my mission statement if I can garner further interest in extending. 46 hits last month and 53 in first 3 months..spread the word!
Just discovered your page here whilst trying to find your email at IWM.
Havent had a chance yet to see your great new book but looking forward to it,,i dd see it profiled in Sunday Times mag and elsewhere..interested in the work of the Canadian born H.D.Girdwood (1878-1964)
we have two images by him in the collection and wonder if we need copyright permission to illustrate them on the NPG website As he only died in 1964 in Michigan in the USA would his works still be in copyright?

Dear Hilary Roberts
We are producing art books in Iran in various fields including photography.
Recently we are preparing a photo book about Iran-Iraq war, it will be highly appreciated if you accept to write an introducing to the book.
We have been working with Idea Books from Netherlands for many years and if you would like you can ask them about Nazar Art Publication.
Looking forward to hearing your kind reply
Best regards
