      Hi Nicholas. In reply to your question about my home made camera, the lens in the uploaded photo is a Shneider-Kreuznach I borrowed from my mentor. I have since built my own lens from a cheapo double-convex element and some wood and foamcore, and I use cardboard for stops. I also built a guillotine shutter for it. The lensboards can be changed, so I can use both lenses, plus a pinhole lensboard. As for images, I can use ordinary 4x5 sheet film or I can use hand-coated glass or metal plates. I use Rockland's dry-plate ambrotype process for that. When I get a chance, I'll upload some scanned-in samples.
