Professional Photographers' Association

I'd be grateful for any information on status of the archives of the Professional Photographers' Association (founded in 1901, and subsequently renamed the British Institute of Professional Photographers). My understanding is that these archives have been preserved, but that they are not available to researchers. Any confirmation or clarification would be most welcome.

  • Thank you. That's very helpful.
  • The PPA/BIPP archives are held at Birmingham Central Library. The contact there is Peter James (who is on this list). As the library is moving to new premises some archival material has been moved into off-site storage and won't be available until the new building is occupied. Pete can confirm the statis of the PPA archives.
