Does anyone know what happened to the excellent PhotoLondon site? The URL now points to somewhere on the Museum of London's site. Is the information that was formerly available there now on another site somewhere?
The best source on London photographers 1841-1901, includes an extensive and detailed database of around 9000 London photographers (and allied trades) with plenty of biographical information. No longer updated but remains useful and plenty of references to more sources.

I've now uploaded it (see above)

Here is the DIRECTORY OF LONDON PHOTOGRAPHERS 1841-1908 that Michael so painstakingly put together, archived in 2003. It's an HTML file that should simply open in your browser and then you can search it via CTRL/CMD + F.

Please send to pmontgomery@hamptons.com. Thanks.

I have the Directory of London Photographers as a complete HTML file, which is only just over one MB. If anyone needs it, drop me a message.
Oh no! I just discovered the bad news, too! My Photographers' Identities Catalog has a pretty complete index of it here, but needless to say I hadn't necessarily gotten all the data. Of the 8,505* photographers or studios in PIC that were in PhotoLondon I have (in my database) the full text for 7,207 of them (I think because of a scraping error I didn't get all of them). So, until it gets up and running again (which I hope it does), you can email me for the text if you're looking for the details on one of these names. pic@nypl.org
Best,

*I omitted entries which I believed to be duplicates, others that were "artists" and only possibly photographers, and I think some others I considered to be pretty tangential (clerks). In hindsight, I wish I'd kept them all, even if I didn't include them in PIC.
Hi - I used this site all of the time. Needed it several times already this week. If there is anything I can do, e.g. write letter of support, please let me know. If it is a matter of paying for the service, I'm happy to do that, but hope Mus. of London can reopen, or if not, transfer to another organization that will keep it up and running. --Paula Richardson Fleming
That would be a possibility and has been proposed. I'm still awaiting a response from the Museum of London.
