I have around 250 studio portraits ranging from 1880s to 1920s and sadly they have become damaged with brown spots for on poor storage
I'm in the process of scanning each photograph ( front and back in order to show the studio details)
My question if anyone can advise is how best to store the originals and prevent further deterioration?
I've removed all the prints from their original albums - some were behind sticky plastic and some were mounted on card within an album.
I'm currently using acid free a 4 black card to mount each image using photo corners and laying tissue over the top of each page and then storing flat in s ring binder. Do I need an airtight container and am I doing enough to preserve these photographs
