My apologies for not thoroughly reading our existing exchange. You already answered the question I recently sent, so unless you have found something new I'm not sure if there is anything to add. I have tried to look for the album you mentioned at LAC, but it does not appear in my search results. If you have a link directly to it, I would be very appreciative.
Hello again - I hope all is well with you and your loved ones. Do you have any news about your book on Dally? He certainly is a fascinating character, and I'm sure your book will reveal so much more about him. Right now, I'm trying to track down several photographs that he took around Puget Sound, Washington Territory, in 1866. I have seen a reference to at least one of them being at the Toronto Public Library (below), but they say they have no record of it. Have you come across any references to these photos in your research?
Good idea. I have an essay on Edward Curtis currently in the final editing process at PNQ. I believe they would be interested in Dally, who is little-known in Washington.
This is very helpful - I sincerely appreciate your quick and thoughtful reply. I'll look for a copy of the Smith book for possible additional details. Like you, I have been unable to find any images of his in U.S. collections. I look forward to seeing your book on Dally when it is available.
Hello - I am currently researching the history of photographers who worked in Washington Territory/State from 1850 to 1900. I recently came across an image of Seattle taken in 1866 by Frederick Dally (in this article: https://depts.washington.edu/cspn/the-environments-of-seattles-hist...), and I am hoping to find more about exactly when and where Dally might have visited where he came to this area. If you have any information that may be helpful, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
