Alfred Watkins exposure meters

I am researching Alfred Watkins exposure meters. Would be interested to buy more unusual varieties, and also seeking a copy of his biography by his son Allen Watkins.

Many thanks for any help.

  • Alfred Watkins: A Herefordshire Man is by Ron Shoesmith (Logaston Press, 1990) was on sale at the Hereford Museum/Gallery/Library which was where I obtained my copy. The museum/library collection is extensive and well worth a visit. I did some research there in the early to mid-90s and I particularly remember Watkin's negatives that were were so contrasty I could never understand how it could be remotely possible to get detail in the highlights. And they have an amazing collection of Bee meters.
  • I was recently at supper in Herefordshire with a friend who has family connections with Watkins. I was handed for examination prints done by Watkins himself which was very moving. He might be of interest to you as my husband was given a meter for Xmas but I don't think will want to part with it!!!
  • Not sure if this is the book you're looking for, but there seem to be 2 copies available (Item 2 from a local UK book dealer; and Item 3 from the States):

Good luck with the research !
