Event: Talk on early photographers in Nottingham / 18 October 2025

I have been invited to give a talk to the Marsh Forum which is made up of local history groups in Nottingham and the county. My talk 'Pioneers of Photography' uses much of the research carried out by Pauline and Bernard Heathcote, of course, and features Bromley House quite prominently. The talk is at Nottingham Central Library, Carrington Street, Nottingham on 18 October at 10.30. Admission is free but seats need to be booked. nottinghamcitylibraries.co.uk/pioneers-of-photography/

  • I would be very interested in reading a transcript of your talk, Eric. I would love to attend, but I live in Italy which makes things difficult. Is there any chance of discovering more?

    • Hi Michael,

I am curator of the Pauline Heathcote archive at Bromley House Library, Nottingham and my talk is very much based on Pauline's research and publications. It is for people interested in Local History rather than Photographic History and so not very technical.

I will be happy to send you a copy of the transcript of the talk, (but not the images as the permission to use them is exclusive) after 18 October, if you let me have an email address.

    • Dear Eric, I would be most grateful to read the transcript. I am a great admirer of the Heathcotes. We all owe them a geat deal. My email is: mijaco@tin.it

      Many thanks!
