Physicist, inventor and businessman, Sir Charles Wheatstone (1802-75) was professor of experimental philosophy at King’s College London for over 40 years, during which time he invented the electric telegraph, the stereoscope and a number of musical instruments. He embodied in his career and accomplishments the developing significance of science as a discipline and its relationship to society during the Victorian era.
King's College, London, is holding an exhibition of material relating to Wheatstone including his stereoscopy, until 19 December 2015.
