New research on 1862 Hartley Pit Disaster photographs

On 16th January 1862, 204 men and boys died following the Hartley Colliery Disaster in Northumberland. New research published today to mark its 161st anniversary - at www.pressphotoman.com - investigates when the 'after the accident' photographs in the Royal Collection were taken.
