Profile Information

Jamie Carstairs looks after the 'Historical Photographs of China' (HPC) physical collections and digital images, now held in Special Collections, University of Bristol. The collections are listed on Special Collections' Online Archive Catalogue (https://archives.bristol.ac.uk/default.aspx) - see DM2956 in particular, or select 'China (Historical Photographs of China)' in 'Major collections' in 'Advanced Search'.

Over 21,000 images of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, dating from the 1850s to the 1950s, can be viewed on the 'Historical Photographs of China' web site (https://www.hpcbristol.net/). This free-to-use site is fully searchable and low-res images can be downloaded under a Creative Commons licence.
