Daguerreotype (3/4 plate) , 1847/1847, in full leatherette case. #57. Beautifully tinted English-made half plate dag with gilt highlights in an arched top plain mat in a hinged folding morocco full plate case. A fine early portrait with delicately hand tinted background of trees and rolling hills beneath a cloudy sky. An accompanying note in a later hand states that the daguerreotype is dated on the back Aug '47. This has been partially paper taped over so that only 47 is now visible scratched on the verso of the plate.
