Did David Octavius Hill take stereoviews?

I have a stereo of Dunfermline showing the Paton family in front of their house in Wooers Alley. DO Hill corresponded with Joseph Neil Paton and married one of the daughters, Amelia.Could this be an image by DO Hill of his in-laws to be? Is there any evidence that he took stereoviews? I know that post-Adamson he worked with McGlashon for a while, who was a stereophotographer, but did Hill also catch the stereoscopic bug?…See More

Book launch: Scotland in 3D / St Andrews, Thursday 4th October, 7pm

In conjunction with the St Andrews Photographic Festival and to celebrate 170 years since Brewster developed his stereoscope, Peter Blair will launch his new book "Scotland in 3D - a Victorian Virtual Reality Tour" ISBN 9781527225527 at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews on Thurs 4th October at 7pm.
