Information and discussion on all aspects of British photographic history

Event: Manchester Digital Collections: Tokens of Affection / 15 April 2021

Join Angie McCarthy and Tony Richards from our Imaging Team as they explore how portrait photographic jewellery has always been a sentimental favourite, a place to hold memories of loved ones, kept close to the heart or simply held in the palm of a hand.

They will discuss items from the newly created Photographic Jewellery Manchester Digital Collection (MDC)  and consider the life cycle of the object and ask how a face from the past can still intrigue and connect with us today.

This event will include a 30 minute talk followed by 15minute Q&A . The talk will take place on Zoom, the link will be sent to you on the morning of the event.

You can also find our Photographic Jewellery Manchester Digital Collection at the following link.

Comment by Tony Richards yesterday
"We are very sorry to let you know that there has been some major disruption on the University network today, with intermittent access all services. This includes (ironically our IT Support Portal) but also Manchester Digital Collections.
Due to the instability of the connection, we feel it is best to postpone this event and we will be back in touch to rebook.
We are so disappointed that we can’t share this session with you, but we hope you can meet us here again soon."
