I thought I would share an image (carbon print on porcelain plaque) of these lady chess players in my collection. The plaque measures 13x17 cm approximately. The composition reminded me of similar images by Lewis Carroll.
Any information about authorship would be welcomed.

Seeing a new copy of a Calotype for identification in the recent blogs made me think of a calotype in my collection. It measures approximately 18x11 cm. I enclose images of the Calotype and watermark which reads Turner photo paper. I would appreciate any comments about the location of the bridge and the photographer. Regards, Meir…Continue

In his television series "Britain's First Photo Album", broadcast on the 12th March on BBC2, John Sergeant repeatedly refers to the John Thomson photo of "Covent Garden Flower Women" as having been taken by Francis Frith.
He also shows another Thomson photo "Covent Garden Labourers" in the same Frith context.
