I'm researching the Derby Master Class project.  Initiated by Nigel Trow at the Derbyshire College of Higher Education in 1975/76 it brought a number of internationally recognised photographers to the course at the institution.  It ran for several years as a very distinctive feature of the course before gradually reverting to a more recognisable Visiting Artist programme.  I have the archive materials assembled by Richard Sadler, who taught at Derby through the period (courtesy of his Estate) and hope to publish a small monograph on the subject.

In addition I have other materials, catalogues, pamphlets, magazines and cuttings on a range of photographic activities relating to the late seventies and eighties that I'd happily pass on to anyone conducting research into the period.  If you are interested I will shortly post the listings of what is available.

Regarding the Master Class programme - if you were involved, as staff, student, or otherwise I'd be interested in making contact.

We at Bazar Nadar are proud to announce there are three vintage salt prints of Roger Fenton added to our gallery. 

The portraits of the royal children are made in 1854. They come together with the later official gelatine silver prints made by Kirk Armitage as a coronation gift to King Edward VII. Only six of these exist. We found a matching print for every salt print of this series.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has had experience of restoring the backing cards to Cartes de Visite.

I have a Victorian family album, just given to me, containing some 80 or so CdV's, all or most of which have delaminated, (as as the album, page by page), and the photo paper stock has also come away from the CdV card. This means that I can attempt to repair the cards, let them totally dry, them re-stick the photo to them.

My problem is that I've no idea what adhesive to use, although I suspect a watered down paste, something like the old Gloy brand, might do, but need to be sure it won't adversely affect the photo when that is re-attached. I'd propose to use a large flower press to keep the card flat while drying.

I would normally attempt this, but they are family photos, and really would like to preserve them intact if at all possible.

Any help out there please.
